Fujifilm Thermoscale Film

Fujifilm's ThermoScale Film is a single-use, heat sensitive film that measures temperature ranging from 80 to 105℃ through peak temperature snapshots. It captures a temperature profile via a color scale and reveals temperature distribution.

Description

Thermoscale uses special technology that regulates color intensity and hue in accordance with heat value to generate a highly accurate depiction of heat distribution over a wide range of heat values. Thermoscale is ideal for applications involving analysis of heat distribution during press, roll, and laminate processes and in drying ovens.

How to use Thermoscale 100

Thermoscale sheets turn black when they come in contact with a heat source. A short contact time produces pale colors. As the contact time increases (at the same temperature), the colors become deeper. Note that the color change is also influenced by factors such as the type of material on the opposite side (i.e., the non-heat source side), thermal characteristics, contact pressure and air flow, so calibration should be performed under actual usage conditions.

Recommended service temperature range: 15°C–30°C Recommended service humidity: 35% RH-80% RH

  • * The above sample colors were produced by Fujifilm under test conditions. Calibration should be performed under actual usage conditions to ensure temperature correspondence.

Steps to use Thermoscale

1 Cut a piece of Thermoscale film to the required shape/length and place it on or inside the equipment.

2 Operate the equipment in the normal manner to bring the Thermoscale sheet in direct contact with the heat source.

  • *The non-glossy side should be facing the heat source.

3 Color patterning is produced on the Thermoscale sheet in response to heat distribution.

4 Remove the Thermoscale sheet and observe from the glossy side.

  • * The color patterning indicates the heat distribution over the heating surface.

What Could Dynamic, Real-Time Temperature Data Add to Your Process?

Visualize Thermal Propagation wih Real Time Data

  • Identify how heat moves through a surface and pinpoint critical area for optimization in product design, material selection, and process control.

Measure Where Thermoscale Can’t

  • Accurately measure temperature in moving components, enclosed spaces, and multi-layer materials – even inside sealed machinery and rotating rollers where infrared cameras fail. Whether you're working with enclosed machinery, rotating equipment, or multi-layer assemblies, Tekscan’s temperature sensing system delivers real-time, dynamic, spatial insight into thermal behavior.
