Body Pressure Measurement System™ (BPMS™) Features

  • Powerful and versatile pressure measurement and positioning tool
  • Provides accurate and reliable pressure readings enabling you to optimize seating, bedding, cushioning and positioning solutions
  • Pinpoints anatomical structures that cause concentrated pressures showing you where the pressure needs to be relieved
  • Ensures precise measurement of location and magnitude of peak pressures without altering the support surface characteristics
  • Provides the capability to identify pressure related problems more effectively
  • Improve documentation and communication with the quantitative results it measures, displays, and records
  • Multiple configurations available - BPMS offers the right solution for any size support surface
  • Scanning speed of 100 Hz

Benefits of Pressure Mapping:

  • Reduces the incidence of ulceration, tissue deterioration, and speeds healing of existing pressure sores, ulcers, and wounds
  • Scientific selection of cushions and positioning
  • Provides tangible, visible biofeedback for the client

Body Pressure Measurement System™ (BPMS™) Applications

  • Screen for and monitor treatment of pressure sores, ulcers, and wounds
  • Identify pressure on high risk areas
  • Pre- and post-surgical evaluations
  • Assess seating and posture abnormalities

Numerous articles have been published regarding body pressure mapping and its applications. Tekscan has compiled a list of these research publications in our Medical Bibliography.

BPMS™ Components

A Tekscan system consists of scanning electronics - Evolution™ Handle(s), software, and patented thin-film sensors. Sensor selection dependent on application, learn more about the sensors available on the Sensors tab. The BPMS system is configurable based on your application requirements.

* The Evolution handle connects to the sensor, gathers the data from the sensor, and then processes and send this data to your computer via USB connection.

Components depend on system configuration. Additional items may be included with your system purchase.

BPMS™ Pressure Sensor Configurations

BPMS™ is built on a "modular" sensor construct concept. This means you can acquire a system in many ways from one pressure sensor up to eight. This allows you to grow your BPMS as your needs expand, thus protecting your initial investment.

Subject shown lying on a 2-sensor configuration (model #5400N). The high spatial resolution of the sensor allows you to measure and display the high pressure areas (in red) as the subject is lying down (back of head, left scapula, right elbow, lower back, and back of heels).

  • Display 2-D and 3-D real-time and recorded data
  • Display contact area, average and peak pressures, and Center of Pressure and its trajectory
  • View data frame by frame
  • Side-by-side comparisons of pre- and post-treatment conditions
  • Measure distance between two points (anatomical landmarks or sites)
  • Isolate and analyze specific regions
  • Import and export subject movie files
