What is the BPMS™?

The Body Pressure Measurement System (BPMS™) is a powerful and versatile pressure measurement and positioning tool. It provides accurate and reliable pressure readings, enabling clinicians and researchers to optimize seating, bedding, cushioning, and positioning solutions. The ultra-thin and flexible pressure mapping matrix pinpoints anatomical structures that cause concentrated pressures, showing the user where pressure needs to be relieved.

BPMS Features & Benefits

  • Captures precise measurement of location and magnitude of peak pressures without altering the support surface characteristics
  • Objective data to help reduce the incidence of ulceration, tissue deterioration, and speed healing of existing pressure sores, ulcers, and wounds
  • Aides in the scientific selection of cushions and positioning
  • Provides tangible, visible biofeedback for the client
  • Helps improve documentation and communication with the quantitative results
  • Multiple configurations available - BPMS offers the right solution for any size support surface
  • Scanning speed up to 100 Hz

BPMS uses

BPMS is Used by Clinicians and Researchers to:

  • Screen for and monitor treatment of pressure sores, ulcers, and wounds
  • Identify pressure on high-risk areas
  • Evaluation pre- and post-surgical procedures
  • Assess seating and posture abnormalities
  • Evaluate areas of patient discomfort
  • Enhance patient satisfaction with support surfaces

BPMS Components

Tekscan systems consist of scanning electronics - Evolution™ Handle(s), software, and patented thin-film sensors.  The BPMS system is configurable, based on your application requirements.

The Evolution handle connects to the sensor, gathers the data from the sensor, and then processes and sends this data to your computer via USB connection.

Components depend on system configuration. Additional items may be included with your system purchase.

Sensors

BPMS is built on a "modular" sensor construct concept. This means you can acquire a system in many ways, from one pressure sensor up to eight. This allows you to grow your BPMS as your needs expand, thus protecting your initial investment.

Software

The high spatial resolution of the BPMS system measures and displays the high pressure areas (in red) as the subject is lying down (back of head, left scapula, right elbow, lower back, and back of heels).

All Tekscan software works with current Windows® based operating systems. To view the complete computer requirements click here.

The software is available in several languages including Spanish, French and German. View available software languages.

  • Display 2D and 3D real-time and recorded data
  • Display contact area, average and peak pressures, and Center of Pressure and its trajectory
  • View data frame by frame
  • Side-by-side comparisons of pre- and post-treatment conditions
  • Measure distance between two points (anatomical landmarks or sites)
  • Isolate and analyze specific regions
  • Import and export subject movie files
