Clinician Spotlight: Samuel Cress

Dr. Samuel Cress, DDS

Dr. Samuel Cress, DDS, President and owner of The Center for Craniofacial and Dental Sleep Medicine, a dental practice in Sugarland, TX, specializes in TMD, dental sleep medicine, full mouth reconstruction, cosmetic and general dentistry. He recently spoke with one of our account managers, Shane Varga, about his experience using T-Scan™.

In what ways are you currently using T-Scan™?

To determine the patients' current occlusal condition in order to formulate a comprehensive treatment plan and to guide me in the direction to get the patient out of pain. For example, is it a simple occlusal adjustment, possible post-ortho, or is it more complex and requires an orthotic and Phase 1 treatment?

T-Scan helps me see what's really going on in the patient's mouth when the teeth come together and informs my treatment plans.

How would you describe T-Scan's value in your practice?

Priceless! I cannot do a comprehensive analysis of the patients with TMD symptoms if I do not have the T-Scan. It should be the standard of care in treating patients with multiple restorations, TMD, and other complicated dental work. T-Scan also speeds up the process in clinical diagnosis, from a simple filling adjustment, to a full mouth calibration.

What is the impact of T-Scan in your practice?

Let me put it this way: If I had to chose between my handpiece and T-Scan, I would choose T-Scan. I can always find something else to file a tooth down. But all kidding aside, T-Scan allows me to see the patient's bite dynamics, which is essential for comprehensive treatment planning. I can't imagine how I would practice without it.
