Tekscan Appoints Rob Podoloff as Chief Technology Officer

Tekscan, the global leader in tactile force sensors and pressure sensing solutions, is excited to announce the appointment of Rob Podoloff as its new Chief Technology Officer. Rob has a diverse background in technology development for companies ranging in size from startups to Fortune 500 organizations.

"The demand and utilization of Tekscan technology continues to grow. We recognize the need for continuous innovation in order to meet the needs of our customers. Rob has a proven track record of delivering cutting-edge quality products", Steve Jacobs, President.

Rob knows Tekscan technology well. In fact, he was one of the original founders of Tekscan in the late 80's. 30 years later, he is excited to rejoin the company that has since developed many new products and years of application engineering expertise. Rob sees a tremendous opportunity and believes Tekscan's technology is well-aligned with growing and evolving markets including the internet of things, printed electronics, and wearables.

Rob's vision for Tekscan is simple: deliver value to customers by bringing new, high-quality products to market as quickly as possible. Current developments in nanomaterials and low power processing are areas of great opportunity to expand the use of Tekscan technology in countless product areas.

He also plans to build upon the existing flagship products at Tekscan, many of which he developed. Rob launched the company with the T-Scan™, a dental occlusal analysis system, now used by dentists worldwide. He also designed the F-Scan™, an in-shoe plantar pressure measurement device widely accepted in the industry for foot function and gait analysis. Leveraging the existing technology he also launched the I-Scan™, a versatile tool providing key insight to research and development engineers.

Rob has more than 30 years in technology development. He is a listed inventor of over 20 US patents and multiple patents worldwide with projects ranging from basic sensor technology to exercise equipment to mobile gaming.

Rob has an active appointment with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a lecturer/lab instructor for the senior mechanical engineering capstone class 2.009 (Product Engineering Processes) as well as for the introductory 2.00B (Toy Design Process).  Rob holds both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from MIT as well.
