Tekscan Introduces ErGO-Scan Pressure Mapping System for Clinical Seating Assessments

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New portable pressure mapping platform designed to support wheelchair seating evaluations and clinical decision-making

Norwood, MA (6/1/2026) — Tekscan, leader in tactile pressure sensing and pressure mapping technology, today announced the launch of ErGO-Scan™, a new pressure mapping platform introduced for wheelchair seating assessments and clinical mobility evaluations.

Designed specifically for the workflows of Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs) and seating clinicians, ErGO-Scan provides objective pressure measurement in a lightweight, portable system optimized for routine clinical use.

ErGO-Scan helps clinicians visualize pressure distribution, compare wheelchair cushions and seating configurations, and support seating decisions with objective data. By helping clinicians identify high-pressure areas and evaluate seating fit more objectively, pressure mapping technology can support improved comfort and help reduce the risk of pressure-related skin breakdown.

“The development of ErGO-Scan was guided by direct feedback from ATPs and seating clinicians,” said Jennifer Cullen, Vice-President of Sales & Marketing at Tekscan. “Clinicians emphasized the importance of a system that integrates seamlessly into everyday workflows, with portable hardware, laptop-based operation, and simple ways to capture and share pressure mapping images and recordings. Making the system both effective for patients and intuitive for clinicians remained a central focus throughout development.”

Key features of ErGO-Scan include:

  • Objective pressure data to support cushion comparisons, seating evaluations, and clinical decision-making
  • Lightweight, portable hardware designed for clinical environments
  • Wireless operation for more natural patient interaction, with a wired option available for extended assessments
  • Intuitive software with streamlined reporting and data-sharing capabilities to support clinical documentation and communication
  • Newly-developed durable fabric sensor technology

ErGO-Scan complements Tekscan’s existing clinical pressure mapping portfolio. While CONFORMat™ continues to support advanced clinical and research applications, ErGO-Scan was specifically developed for routine ATP and seating clinic workflows emphasizing portability, ease of use, rapid setup, and streamlined reporting.

The launch reflects continued demand within the seating and mobility market for practical, clinically focused pressure mapping solutions that support objective assessment and improved patient care.
