I-Scan® System

tactile pressure and force measurement

This versatile tactile pressure measurement system is tailor-made by choosing from over 200 pressure sensors to meet your specific application requirements.

<em>I-Scan</em>® System

I-Scan®, the user-friendly pressure mapping system, records dynamic and static interface pressure distribution data directly to your PC. The data can then be displayed as 2-D and 3-D pressure profiles as well as configurable graphs. The system includes Windows-based software, scanning electronics, and sensors.

Our scanning electronics rapidly scan and record pressure data from an array of thousands of independent sensing elements contained within each sensor at a rate of up to 2,288,000 sensing elements/second. These characteristics, coupled with our sensors' high spatial resolution (248 sensels per square centimeter or 1,600 sensels per square inch), have made us the industry leader in solving difficult pressure measurement problems.

Key I-Scan Features:

  • Ultra-thin, durable & reusable pressure sensors
  • Sensors with pitch as fine as 0.625 mm (0.025 in.)
  • USB connectivity to your computer
  • Fast (100 Hz) sensor scanning (High Speed system also available for measuring impact force)
  • Accurate, repeatable measurements
  • Real-time display of pressure sensor data
  • Recording & playback of dynamic pressure images
  • Graphing and data analysis capabilities
  • Easy to set-up & portable

I-Scan User Experience:

"TMMK has been using the I-Scan system for the last two years, resulting in over 3,000 push/pull tests.  The I-Scan provides our Safety and Engineering team with an accurate measuring device to record push/pull forces on a majority of our parts.  The Tekscan system is easy to use and very dependable and has helped to improve our ergonomic initiative."

  • View sensor data as an integrated Microsoft Excel table. Data from multiple movies can be viewed and analyzed simultaneously, within a single Excel spreadsheet.  Formulas can be added to the table to provide application specific real-time values.

  • With the Show Values feature, pressure on the individual sensels can be numerically displayed, easing identification of high pressure areas.

  • Optimized Interpolation algorithms in the software normalize sensor data to render images with higher spatial resolutions than the sensor, producing graphics which have a realistic representation of the object being measured. Left: Data with no Interpolation applied.  Right: Data with 5x5 Interpolation applied

I-Scan Pressure & Force Measurement Software

The I-Scan system provides advanced, yet simple to use software that displays tactile pressure data in real-time. Data can be captured, saved, easily analyzed using a variety of graphs, or exported as an ASCII file for use with other programs.

I-Scan Software Features:

  • Display real-time and recorded data as 2-D and 3-D images
  • Capture dynamic pressure events
  • Play-back pressure “movies”
  • Display data frame-by-frame
  • Graph and analyze real-time or stored data (Pressure, Force, Area)
  • View data as an integrated Excel table
  • Isolate, compare and analyze data from different locations on the sensor
  • Assess pressure on individual sensels numerically
