ENHANCE GAIT ANALYSIS WITH PRESSURE MAPPING

Better understand foot function and gait through pressure measurement

Pressure mapping technology provides unique insight on foot function and gait, helping you determine the root cause of problems in the lower extremities. Tekscan®'s accurate and affordable pressure mapping systems are used by clinicians and researchers around the world to:

  • Ensure effective offloading to reduce plantar ulceration risk
  • Design new footwear products
  • Identify and correct pathomechanical dysfunctions
  • Improve athletic performance
  • Measure change after treatment

How does Pressure Mapping work?

Tekscan offers in-shoe and floor mat systems that capture pressure and timing data throughout the gait cycle, immediately identifying peak pressure areas and tracking Center of Force (CoF) trajectory. Floor mat systems like the MatScan® and HR Mat® quickly pinpoint areas of high pressure in barefoot patients, giving you more information to aid in developing better treatments. The in-shoe system, F-Scan®, provides unparalleled insight on the relationship between foot and footwear, so you can objectively validate treatment efficacy and benchmark athletic performance. Multi-step floor mat systems, like the Walkway™, provide barefoot analysis throughout the full gait cycle. All Tekscan pressure mapping systems provide unique information for a more thorough gait analysis, including:

  • Pressure maps (image profiles) of pressure distribution on plantar surface
  • Pressures and Forces during gait displayed in Time graphs (gait curves)
  • Position and Trajectories for Center of Force (CoF) during stance phases of gait
  • Force and Pressure time Integrals (impulse)

To learn more about how you can use pressure mapping for enhanced gait analysis, see the video on identifying asymmetry with the F-Scan system in the orange sidebar of this page.
