VP of FlexiForce Sales

Tekscan is the leading manufacturer of tactile pressure and force measurement sensors and systems for dental, medical, industrial, OEM, and commercial customers. This dynamic, employee owned company has leveraged their patented technology with an aggressive marketing strategy to grow in a demanding and competitive marketplace. Reporting directly to the President, the VP of FlexiForce Sales will be responsible for leading and coaching the sales team to achieve maximum profitability and growth. This position is located in Boston. 


  • Develop business plans and sales strategies for the OEM and Test and Measurement markets that ensure the attainment of company sales goals/profitability
  • Lead the sales team to ensure effective and consistent performance throughout the sales cycle, insuring that all salespeople meet or exceed all activity standards for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals, and closes
  • Mentor sales engineers on a one-on-one basis, creating customized training plans that address individual needs, build motivation, and hone sales skills to improve effectiveness
  • Guide the sales team in the preparation of effective proposals and presentations, and coordinate prospect and customer seminars and workshops
  • Serve as an example for the sales team to follow, maintaining the highest standards of personal character, professional ethics, commitment, organizational and selling skills, and work habits
  • Recruit, hire, manage, and develop the salespeople, providing timely feedback to senior management and presenting the team’s performance against budget, making recommendations as required
  • Provide strategic guidance including initiating and coordinating action plans to penetrate new markets and customers, assisting in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed
  • Attend several shows, conferences, and seminars each year where Tekscan’s products are marketed
  • Coordinate closely with the marketing department to ensure the sales team has the marketing materials and information required to promote the products and services and a continual flow of leads
  • Develop a strong partnership with distributors and key customers
  • Maintain accurate records of all pricing, sales, and activity reports submitted by the salespeople and control expenses to meet budget guidelines
  • Acquire an excellent working knowledge of Tekscan’s products and how they are applied


  • 5+ years of successful technical sales management experience, with a proven ability to consistently lead a team to achieve double digit growth
  • 10+ years total of technical sales experience, including experience selling a technical product in the OEM and Test and Measurement markets. Instrumentation and sensor sales experience a strong plus
  • 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent is preferred
  • MBA is a plus
  • Willing to travel approximately 33% including overnight travel
  • Experience working in a mid-sized company strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership experience required, including the ability to positively motivate and lead a sales team to success
  • Must have demonstrated business skills and executive potential, including excellent presentation skills, the ability to budget, recruit, hire, train, and motivate employees
  • Must be decisive yet flexible, able to meet challenges head on
