Dr. Jim Beck gives advice on how to raise the bar of your practice in the April 2008 edition of Dentaltown Magazine.
His treatment is based on what is revealed through his diagnostic protocol he calls Optimum Dental Physiology (ODP).
He includes TMJ, muscles, occlusion and airway in his patient protocol examinations.
See
how Dr. Beck uses advanced technology in his practice to examine, diagnose, and treat his
patients occlusion and TMJ.

High Tech Bite as seen on
Dental Health Check with Dr. Linda Niessen
"Cracked or broken teeth can be painful and even lead to health problems. But an
innovative, high tech sensing device now can detect a condition that often causes
tooth fractures. News 8’s Dr. Linda Niessen has details in today’s segment of Dental
Health Check."
This study is the first of its kind to scientifically test articulating paper and its ability to
describe occlusal loads. The resulting conclusion: "it would be impossible for a dentist to correctly
pick the right mark from its size appearance" as there was no correlation between the size of a mark,
and the color of the mark, to the degree of occlusal force contained within the mark.

Delayed Implant Loading
Robert B. Kerstein, DMD has recently published an article about fixed occlusion issues
with implants with delayed loading. He shows us how to minimize excessive implant prosthesis
force. He determines how the occlusal scheme can include a quantifiable time delay, such
that the natural teeth occlude before the implants.
Look for Dr. Kerstein's article in the Fall 2006 edition of Aesthetic Dentistry!
Fox Sports' program, "Sport Science: How High Can You Fly", uses technology to examine the science behind
high flying streetballer Chris "Skywalker" Lowery's amazing slam dunks. Skywalker performs astonishing
stunts while attempting to slam dunk a basketball and data during these leaps were collected using the
F-Scan.

The Power of a Punch
Tekscan's UK distributor, Biosense Medical, recently worked the University of Manchester and the BBC to
investigate the awesome punching power of World Champion boxer, Ricky Hatton.
Colin Burgess assisted in setting up a special punch bag with pressure measurement sensors to measure the
force that Ricky was able to punch. The experiment was filmed by the BBC and was transmitted on the BBC national
news. For more information, click here.
The F-Scan and MatScan systems were recently featured in the December issue of Podiatry Today.
The article, by Dr. Kevin Kirby, focuses on the benefits of computer-assisted technology for plantar
pressure measurement and gait analysis, including the pressure mat and pressure insole.
Dr. Kirby states "Both pressure mats and pressure insoles have found practical application in many
podiatrists' offices in diagnosing pathologies and designing more effective mechanical therapies for
the injured patient."
