VersaTek means versatile technology. Tekscan’s new generation of hardware provides USB
connectivity, common hardware for many Medical systems, greater connection reliability,
and is capable of higher scan speeds.
Why is Scan Rate Important?
Rapid dynamic events, such as walking, running, or jumping involve rapid changes of force
and pressure applied to the sensor. Faster scan rates assure that these dynamic events
will be captured with the best possible fidelity. With VersaTek electronics, tethered
F-Scan will scan at up to 850 Hz (850 times per second), enabling short time duration
events to be captured. If the recording speed is slow, the user must assume that they
are capturing everything of interest. With faster recording speed, there is assurance
that everything is captured.
Advantages to a VersaTek System
USB Connection Having a USB connection makes it much more convenient for you to connect VersaTek Cuffs either to a laptop
or desktop computer. VersaTek’s USB connection is through a two-port powered hub that is included with the system and uses
standard Cat5E cables and RJ 45 jacks.
Versatility In the past, different Medical systems used different types of electronics to connect to the sensor. Now most
medical systems will employ the same electronics. This makes it more convenient for those who want to switch
between in-shoe, floor mat, prosthetic, hand grip and even seating and positioning analysis. The same VersaTek Cuffs used with F-Scan
and F-Socket also serve MatScan,
HR Mat, Grip, and CONFORMat.
What is ‘Edge connection'?
The edge connector is a new inter-connection method between the sensor and the VersaTek Cuff. A socket at the
sensor end of the electronics Cuff accepts the edge card with a click. Edge connection provides a more reliable connection and
gives you the flexibility of adding any Edge connect sensor to your existing system (software map not included).
