  • Introducing SAM to Assess Balance, Posture & Sway

We are pleased to introduce the Sway Analysis Module (SAM) for assessing the relationship between posture and sway. It is the ideal tool for balance and sway analysis because it can detect movement that would otherwise be unseen by the naked eye. With SAM you can:

    • Observe how the sensory feedback systems function, allowing you to understand how the body achieves and maintains balance
    • Conduct sway analysis studies to investigate the conditions that affect sway, posture, and balance
    • Assess and document the amount of sway and weight bearing distribution pattern a patient has before and after treatment

Register for a Gait Analysis & Foot Function Seminar!

Learn more about pressure mapping technology and how you can treat patients utilizing objective and quantifiable data to detect abnormalities in the gait cycle and reduce problem areas.

This seminar will be held on the following dates:

    May 3 - 4, 2008 - San Antonio, TX
    October 4 - 5, 2008 - Washington, D.C.

    Treating Bilateral Psuedoequinus

Dr. Michael DeBrule of Marshall, MN treated a 59 year old male who presented with burning bilateral forefoot pain of gradual onset for at least one year. He was unable to walk more than 2 blocks because of his pain and had stopped taking daily walks that he previously enjoyed.

Examination A complete exam revealed a high arch foot, normal ankle range of motion, and a shorter right leg. He had bilateral psuedoequinus (forefoot much lower than rearfoot) with pain to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th metatarsalphalangeal joints. Treadmill gait analysis demonstrated early loading of the forefoot with heel strike almost foot flat and functional hallux limitus present.

Prescription Dr. DeBrule prescribed orthotics based on his examination and the data he received from the F-Scan.

Result After a two-week follow-up, the patient's pain had decreased about 40%. After a six-week follow-up, the patient was pain free and walking 2 miles per day.

Walkway for Osteoarthritis Screening in Canines

Tekscan's Walkway system is used to assist in the diagnosis of osteoarthritis (OA) in canines.

"Dogs suspected of, or known to suffer from, OA will have (1) painless, static and dynamic pressure measurements taken to determine signs of lameness, using state-of-the-art Tekscan Walkway diagnosing equipment and (2) a concurrent, dynamic video recording as the Tekscan Walkway measurements are made."
