The F-Scan Mobile was recently used for collecting pre- and post-orthotic data on players from the Boston
Bruins' minor league team, the Providence Bruins. Dr. James Sullivan,
a Podiatrist from North Smithfield, RI, had developed a custom sports
orthotic to help alleviate arch pain while skating. Dr. Sullivan's orthotic
was used to help keep the foot in a more neutral position. The orthotic also keeps the center of pressure underneath the foot to help prevent the bodies musckoskeletal system from getting into positions that could cause injury. To substantiate
that the orthotic actually was improving player's gait, the F-Scan Mobile was
used to capture data both pre-and post orthotic while the player skated
in various formations.
The end result being that the data collected from the Mobile showed orthotic improvement, improved
biomechanics, and decreased pressure within the problem area. This allowed
the Doctor to see first-hand the success of his orthotic!
