Error: Failed to initialize the ELF device. No device was found
Question/Problem: The error message, “Failed to initialize the ELF device. No device was found” appears.
Answer/Solution: Here are probable causes for this error message:
Elf electronics are not connected to the computer. -- Connect the ELF electronics to the serial port and restart the Elf software.
There is no COM port available. -- Check the Windows Device Manager for available COM ports. If a COM port exists, check for conflicts with other devices. Also, check for other software running which uses devices connected to the COM port. If this software is running, it will cause a conflict, even if the conflicting device is not connected to the serial port. In particular, software for handheld PDA devices may cause this conflict.
Elf software version 2.0 is being used and the Elf electronics are connected to an RS-232 adapter connected to the PCI, PCMCIA or USB interface on the computer. -- Contact Tekscan for an upgrade to the current Elf software version. The latest version of ELF software will function with most USB, PCMCIA and PCI RS-232 adapters.
