Fn+F7 keys cannot be used to switch display from the laptop screen to the projector when Hardware Acceleration is disabled on an IBM Thinkpad laptop
Question/Problem: Fn+F7 keys cannot be used to switch display from the laptop screen to the projector when Hardware Acceleration is disabled on an IBM Thinkpad laptop.
Answer/Solution: After Hardware Acceleration has been disabled in the Windows Display dialog, the Fn+F7 keys do not initiate the Presentation Director program that IBM uses to choose display modes.
Disabling of Hardware Acceleration is necessary in situations where the Tekscan graph is not displayed properly when using an external projector to display the screen image. This is described in more detail in Article 2006041301.
Cause
IBM supplies specific software for controlling the transition between laptop and projector display modes. This software will not function correctly without Hardware Acceleration and it must be disabled when Hardware Acceleration is disabled.
To disable the Presentation Director, first ensure that Hardware Acceleration feature is enabled. Details on this can be found in Article 2006041301.
From the program list in the Windows Start menu, start the IBM Thinkpad Configuration Utility. In the menu, click Display>>Presentation Director.

Note: If Hardware Acceleration is disabled, the Presentation Director will not be allowed to start. If this happens, Hardware Acceleration must be re-enabled first in the Windows Display dialog.
In the Presentation Director, push the Fn+F7 Settings button.

Select the setting which will switch the display output without using the Choose Display Scheme menu and click OK.

Once these settings have been changed, the Hardware Acceleration setting can be disabled so that the Tekscan graph can be correctly displayed on the projector.
