| US Bowling Congress Develops New Technology with Tekscan Systems |
 |
|
The United States Bowling Congress recently used
Tekscan's Grip and F-Scan systems to
develop foot
and grip pressure biomechanics technology for the
sport of bowling. The Grip system provided feedback
on the bowler's rev rate, as well as the pressure
during the back swing and release. Data obtained will
help the bowler in decreasing grip pressure on the
bowling ball. Data from the F-Scan gave insight on
foot timing, which is extremely important for a bowler.
The information that was gathered will be beneficial to
both coaching and training. USBC Research Engineer
Paul Ridenour states "these systems work together
with coaching. USBC hopes that by understanding
biomechanics and applying these systems to the
sport of bowling, we can give our coaches the most
advanced tools to analyze bowlers and help teach
athletes of all ability levels."

Challenge: Designing a more comfortable
mattress
Solution: The Body Pressure Measurement
System (BPMS) was used to assist mattress
manufacturers with the difficult task of
assessing comfort. The system identified peak
pressure points and total body pressure distribution
over various mattress surfaces, such as spring, foam,
laytex and air.

Tekscan's Software can identify and track the
center of force?
Tekscan's Center of Force (COF) feature allows
you to view the center of all the forces in a pressure
movie or real-time window display. With this feature
you can now see how the forces are 'balanced' on the
sensor. You can also monitor and display the
movement of the COF for the duration of the recorded
pressure movie.
