API 1 - Application Programming Interface 1 Toolkit

Develop your own Application using Tekscan Scanning Electronics and Sensors!

API 1 (Application Programming Interface 1) is a developers tool kit that enables programmers experienced in C++ to develop their own applications that make calls to and gather data from Tekscan sensor scanning electronics and sensors. These applications can have their own unique user interface and functionality and can have a purpose that is completely different from Tekscan products like I-Scan® or F-Scan®. The API 1 tool kit includes a run-time license for installation on a single computer. After the application is developed, the user can deploy it to multiple systems, by purchasing supporting Tekscan scanning electronics, sensors, serialized “run time” DLL licenses, scanning electronics drivers and software sensor maps.

In a Windows environment with Tekscan scanning electronics and the appropriate physical sensors and sensor software “maps”, an application utilizing the API 1 library has control of the scanning electronics to:
  • initialize it
  • request / set recording parameters such as scan rate
  • set the type of sensor and sensor map to be used
  • acquire single frames of sensor data (snapshots)
  • initiate the acquisition of multiple sequential frames of sensor data (a recording)
Installing API 1 yields:
  • the core API library (DLL, lib and header files)
  • device drivers for supported Tekscan scanning electronics
  • sample application along with its source code
  • a manual describing in detail all of the API 1 functions
  • a null sensor map (a 44 by 52 array) - “Maps” for the actual sensors to be used must be purchased separately.

APPLICATIONS:
  • User interface for video games
  • Creating dedicated systems for:
    • Pharmaceutical packaging leak testing
    • Circuit testing
  • Robotic control systems
Before embarking on an API 1 project, application developers should be familiar with a conventional Tekscan product, such as I-Scan, or one that has functionality similar to their intended application. For example, the API 1 developer who wants to calibrate or equilibrate a sensor should have experience with how Tekscan products perform these functions as this familiarity should greatly enhance their programming efficiency and understanding. To assist understanding of API 1, four hours of technical support within the first 90 days of delivery is included.
