Pride Institute Best of Class

The following examples are occlusal recordings of a patient self-closure into intercuspal position (IP) pre and post treatment. The red and white icon called the Center of Force indicates the balance of occlusal contacts present at any given moment. As contact patterns change during closure, the COF is recalculated to find newest point of balance. The red and white trail, COF trajectory, plots the path that the COF travels during the movie.

PRE-TREATMENT. Note the COF begins with anterior and right side contacts only. Then additional right-sided contacts appear and increase in force. As the movie progresses, not all teeth on the left half of the arch are in occlusal contact at the time the patient reaches IP (COF stops moving). There is a significant force imbalance of the dental arch with 59.7% of the force on the right compared to 40.3% of the force on the left.
POST-TREATMENT. As the movie plays, more and more teeth make occlusal contact on both halves of the dental arch sequentially. There is a significant force balance of the dental arch with 53.5% of the force on the right compared to 46.5% of the force on the left. Note the position of the COF Trajectory which is indicative of bilateral simultaneous occlusal contacts. This was accomplished by adjusting the previous contact sequence until both halves of the arch occluded together in a very short time frame.

Key new features of T-Scan III and
6.0 software include:

  • New Look! The new software is aesthetically pleasing and easier to visualize.
  • Set user preferences - more options to tailor the behavior and appearance of the software to your own preferences.
  • Automated determination of A, B, C, and D lines in graph - effortless measurement of Occlusion and Disclusion Time.

T-Scan 6.0 Software
  • Additional View Modes (Grid, Multi, Single) - full array of display options available, allowing for more flexibility in comparing a series of movies.
  • Disclusion and Occlusion Table - movie comparison charts for occlusion and disclusion time differentials. The computer compares data of movies in a simple to follow format.
  • Sensitivity Setting - software now provides more settings for adjustable sensitivity, making it much easier to match the strength of the patients bite.
  • Image Library - contains images and descriptions related to occlusion, research, anatomy, MRI's, tomograms, TMJ and much more to aid in patient education.
  • User friendly Alerts - pop-up notices to help the user take an improved recorded movie.
  • New Work-Up feature - valuable for saving specific research data.
  • And more! View the system flyer for additional information.

Sensor Description

The T-Scan sensor was the first developed in 1987 with the start of the company. Since then, Tekscan has continued to improve the sensor design through Research and Development to ensure for the most accurate and reliable data. Today, Tekscan is pleased offer our 4th generation T-Scan sensor.

  • Sensor thickness is only 100 microns- no interference with natural bite.
  • Sensor is more durable than ever!
  • The disposable sensor can be reused for ~15-25 recordings.
  • The 4th generation sensor has no shelf-life date on the sensor- you can use them when you need them.
  • 50% reduction of inactive area in the 4th generation sensors as compared to generations 1-3.

Add-On Capabilities

BioEMG-T-Scan Integration Module: The T-Scan III-BioEMG Integration Software synchronizes and integrates the data of the T-Scan III with electromyography data of BioResearch's EMG unit (BioEMG). BioEMG measures muscular functions of the head and neck while the T-Scan III shows the force and distribution of teeth. Together, they give a comprehensive view of your patient's bite.

MatScan®: Adds a pressure sensing floor mat capability to attain accurate and reliable gait, stance, balance, and pressure readings available for the practitioner evaluating total body mechanics. Includes MatScan® software and floor mat with sensor.

MatScan®/BioEMG Integration Module: This Integration software synchronizes and integrates the clinical data of Tekscan's MatScan with the electromyographic data of BioResearch's EMG unit. Together, they give a complete view of foot pressure, force, and weightbearing measurements and how they relate to the rest and function performance of the muscles.
