Medical Product Manager
Tekscan, Inc. is seeking a motivated and qualified Medical Product Manager to join our team.
The Medical Product Manager will be responsible for specifying new products and features and managing the product life cycle from a marketing perspective.This role requires leadership in a multi-disciplinary environment: leveraging podiatric and other medical research, understanding sensors and measurement technology, and initiating development of software that is both easy to use and analytically intensive.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor and coordinate all aspects of the product lifecycle, including market analysis, product strategy, product planning, and product marketing.
- Perform market analysis including market research, technology assessment, and competitive analysis.
- Develop product strategies that include incorporating innovation, clarifying the business case, defining product requirements and specifications, and deciding to buy, build or partner, and pricing.
- Conduct product planning that includes positioning, market requirements, product roadmap, user personas, and use scenarios.
- Understand market needs, uncover market problems, determine and prioritize product feature sets, and communicate market problems and requirements to development in a meaningful way so the final product requirement matches market needs.
- Understand why our customers buy our products and why our non-customers don’t buy our products.
- Introduce new products and new applications for existing products to penetrate new markets and increase revenues and profits
- Implement a product-oriented project portfolio management process to ensure that the portfolio delivers value, is balanced, contains very high value projects, and is aligned with the business's objectives.
- Develop positioning statements for communicating the product message internally and externally including the primary message, product description, and product name that resonates with the different buyers.
- Work with Tekscan’s customers, engineering, and sales to determine the product’s future direction.
- Refine features so products are easy to use
- Define software that provides intuitive operation and powerful analysis
- Define content of both promotional material and technical documentation
- Care for and feed industry thought leaders
- Support medical research studies to establish product efficacy
- Facilitate introduction of new products including write introductory material, flyers, manuals, train sales people, and answer questions.
- Act as a resource for sales people: answer questions, create sales presentations and demos, and help with issues.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree. A technical degree and/or an MBA would be helpful.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to recognize important technical and market trends, distill disparate inputs into a coherent proposal, and gain the cooperation of others to make things happen.
- Completing detailed projects in a multi-tasking environment is important.
- Two or more years of related experience in the durable (non-disposable) medical device industry. Experience in biomechanics, chiropractic, physical therapy, podiatry is desired.
- Experience with software and sensor–based products would be helpful.
- Involvement with establishing the accepted standard of care and obtaining third party reimbursement for new CPT codes would be helpful.
- Some travel is involved, including exhibiting at tradeshows, assisting at major accounts, training representatives and customers, and advising medical researchers.
